JAIPUR: The state government will conduct a large scale health campaign to create awareness among people on how to prevent various diseases.

“Every person has the right to get good health services from the government. Now we are going to start a new campaign to prevent various diseases. Prevention is better than cure. We want to make Rajasthan a leading state in the country in medical and health services,” said Gehlot, addressing a gathering in Bhilwara on Monday after visiting a medical camp.

In order to stay healthy and fit, people should be aware on how to prevent diseases, he said.

“In villages and hamlets people get ill and in the absence of timely treatment, it worsens. It is the responsibility of the community and primary health centers, and sub-centers to inform district hospitals and chief medical health officer about the patients. Those who cannot be cured at their level should be offered treatment at the district hospital,” he said.

Earlier, on October 24, Gehlot had asked t he Medical and Health Department to prepare a work plan to make Rajasthan a healthy state.

He had said an awareness campaign should be prepared focusing on healthy liver, prevention from Hepatitis B and C and other health standards to make Rajasthan a disease free State.

He directed to form a sub group under the chairmanship of chief secretary for this purpose.

He has directed to involve anganwadi centers, school, colleges and other institutions in the awareness programme.

“We need to generate awareness around misconceptions on Hepatitis B and C and this campaign can play an important role in eradicating these misconceptions.

Gehlot also directed that a plan should be prepared for compulsory vaccination of Hepatitis and its legal aspects,” he stated.
