Lakshmi Narayan Chawla, a resident of Mansarovar, said that even after several complaints to the corporation, the garbage lifting vehicles do not frequent the area. “The basic work of a municipal corporation is to maintain hygiene. Even after several complaints by us, the corporation vehicles do not frequent the area. What Swachh Survekshan is the JMC talking about, if we keep waiting for garbage collection vehicle to reach in the area?” asked Chawla.

JMC mayor Vishnu Dutt Sharma, however, said that every possible attempt is being made to improve the situation. “Due to Diwali, the sanitation work was hampered for a day or two, but now we are back on track. Whatever issue the people are facing will be heard and tackled. We are determined to get better result in the survey this year,” he said.

The Swachh Survekshan Survey is being carried out by the ministry of housing and urban affairs in phases. Presently, last phase of the survey is being carried out in Jaipur before t h e r e s u l t wi l l b e declared in January. Last year, the city slipped five ranks in the all India ranking (AIR) to get 44th position from the 39th position achieved in 2017-18.

JAIPUR: Jaipur district collector Jagroop Singh Yadav on Monday said sub-divisional and city magistrate level officers will be appointed zone wise for effective monitoring and coordination of food safety act, schemes related to Jaipur Municipal Corporation and complaints of irregularity in garbage collection and lack of fogging.

Taking a serious cognizance of complaints related to dengue in the city, he expressed displeasure with the inadequate efforts of the JMC and office of the chief medical and health officer. He instructed the medical officers to submit a micro planning report to control dengue.

The officials from medical department said that 1,805 cases of dengue were reported last year, which has been reduced to 1012, a drop of 44%. The antilarva activities have been done affected areas of the district. The availability of Temiflu and other medicines related to scrub typhus is complete.

Yadav said that preventing the spread of mosquitoes and dengue is a collective responsibility of medical department and the municipal corporation. Therefore, efforts should be made jointly and work be publicized to create awareness in people.

The district collector also expressed displeasure over the status of garbage collection. He gave instruction to appoint zonewise SDM and ACM level officers to coordinate the schemes related to sanitation in the city, door-to-door garbage collection and transportation of garbage and food safety act.

Yadav also instructed the corporation to seize the marriage gardens operating without fire NOC. The wedding season will start next week. All marriage gardens are required to have fire NOC. There have been incidents of fire in marriage gardens in the past. “If any marriage garden is found to be operational without fire safety provisions, it should be sealed,” he said.
