Six arrested for duping man with ‘fake’ wedding

KOTA: The Kota Rural Police have arrested six people including a bride, who ran away with jewellery after solemnisin­g wedding with a person, police said on Wednesday.

Kota Rural superinten­dent of police (SP) Rajan Dushyant said that on November 2, Mahaveer Nagar (30) had lodged a complaint with the Kaithoon police that Satyanaray­an alias Bhagwan Dhakar solemnised his (Nagar’s) wedding with Sangeeta, a resident of Shajapur district in Madhya Pradesh, in June this year.

Satyanaray­an took Rs 1.50 lakh cash and some jewellery f r om hi m f or t he wedding, Mahaveer told police.

A fortnight after the marriage, Sangeeta disappeare­d from his house with the jewellery and her mobile phone was switched off, the complaint said.

“During investigat­ion, the identity proofs given at the time of the wedding were found to be fake,” Dushyant said.

Later, police lodged a case against the bride under sections 420, 406 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a hunt for the missing bride.

“Police have arrested the bride, whose real name is Seema (35) alias Sakku from Pune (Maharashtr­a),” Dushyant said, adding that Sangeeta of Shajapur, who had given her identity p r o o f s t o Se e ma, was a l s o arrested.

Police have also arrested Satyanaray­an of Kota and Ramesh, Vikram and Gokul of Nalkhera area in Madhya Pradesh in the case.

Accused Seema had taken Rs 50,000 cash of the money paid by the complaiant, while other accused had shared the remaining amount, the police said.
