36 booked for cyber crimes in two months

JAIPUR: Jaipur city additional commission­er of police Ashok Gupta on Monday said that as part of the special drive launched by the city cyber cell in last two months 36 accused have been booked in different cyber crimes.

“Cyber crimes and online frauds are increasing at rapid pace. So in order to control them a special cyber cell team was constitute­d which analyzed various complaints registered across police stations. The team analyzed their patterns of complaint, modus operandi and tracked the social media accounts of the suspects. After which the cyber cell was able to nab 36 accused in equal amount of cases,” said Gupta.

He said the son of a sub-inspector posted in Delhi was arrested for stealing details of two credit cards and duping a complainan­t who is from Jaipur of Rs 40,000.

“The accused has been identified as Arendra Yadav alias Aryan.through technical investigat­ion, the cyber cell identified him. When a team was rushed to his house in Delhi, he tried to destroy all the electronic gadgets. But the cyber team recovered the data from the damaged gadgets and obtained evidence against him,” said Vimal Singh, additional deputy commission­er of police , organised crime.

In another case, one accused from Bikaner who had made a fake account of a minor was also detained. “The accused identified a Kishan Kumar Vyas (23) had made a fake account of a teenager after downloadin­g her pictures from social media account. Vyas also posted objectiona­ble posts from that account,” said the addl DCP.

“The cyber cell is working on many other cases like this.”
