Need to work together on child labour: Minister
JAIPUR: The community has to join hands and make efforts to eradicate child labour, minister of state for labour Tikaram Jully said on Tuesday.
He said it is the moral responsibility of the society to try and educate those children being deprived of education because they are working as child labourers. Jully was inaugurating the Child Labour Eradication Awareness programme on the occasion of World Human Rights Day.
The minister flagged off several caravans from his residence in Civil Lines that will tour different areas of the city for the next one week and spread awareness about eradication child labour.
The awareness programme is being conducted jointly by the labour department, Unicef and Pink City Cycle Rickshaw Chalak Sanstha (PCCRCS), an NGO. Under the programme, the vehicles will go to different areas of Jaipur and spread awareness about child labour eradication.

Jaipur division, Dharampal Singh said the campaign will be undertaken in child labour dominant areas such as hotels, shops, waste segregation spots, gem polishing units, Ari-tari and bangle-making units and industrial areas. He said a survey of the children working here will also be undertaken.
The volunteers will talk to parents and employers about child labour and try to convince them not to employ children, he said.
PCCRCS secretary Vipin Tiwari said the campaign is divided in three parts. The caravans will follow a prescribed route chart and spread awareness about child labour among people in their designated areas, he said. The campaign will be carried out in Shastri Nagar, Jalupura, Bani Park, Gurjar ki Thadi, Vidyadhar Nagar, Bhatta Basti, Jhotwara, VKI, Jagatpura, Sanganer Industrial Area, Kho Nagoriyan, Adarsh Nagar, Kanota, Galta Gate, Eidgah, Surajpol, Delhi Road and Kukas.
