Satellite tech help for English, science
JAIPUR: St udents s t udying English and science subjects in government schools and colleges will get services of subject experts through Receive only Terminal (ROT) and Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT) to enhance the learning outcome in these subjects, science and technology department secretary Mugdha Sinha said on Friday.
“This technique will be used in the first phase in approximately 2,000 institutions across the state that come under various departments including higher education, education, social welfare, minority, woman and child development and tribal,” she added.
She was addressing senior officers of higher education, education, social welfare, minority, woman and child and tribal departments at secretariat for spreading of satellite communication (Satcom) technology and encouraging use of it.
She said at the initial level, level of English and science subjects will be increased among students from Class 6 to 12 to achieve better secondary and senior secondary results.
Sinha said facility of this programme will be provided to all 134 model schools, Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools, social welfare department’s hostels, children homes and students of a government college in each district. Along with learning outcome will be improved in tribal areas, madarsas, institutions where there is shortage of teachers in minority dominated areas and in remote areas by linking them with ROT and SIT.
The DST secretary said that information about the schemes of social welfare department will be provided at old age homes and children homes after installing necessary satellite related resources in the concerned departments. Schemes related to education will be propagated in areas that are remote and do not have internet through eight community radio stations run by the department. She said schools of aspirational districts will be covered on priority.
