CAR COLLIDES WITH TRUCK, SEVEN KILLED

JAIPUR: Seven people were killed in a road accident when a car rammed into a truck on the National Highway 58 near Churu district late on Sunday night. The impact of the collision was so severe that front part of the car was completely damaged.

Churu superinten­dent of police (SP) Tejaswani Gautam said that the accident took place around 11.30pm. “The accident took place on NH-58 passing through Nyama village, which is on the border of Churu and Sikar districts. There were eight people in the car who were coming from Rol Sabsar village of Sikar district and were going towards to Sujangrah town in Churu district,” she said.

“When the car was passing t hrough Nyama vi l l age it rammed into a truck. A passersby informed the police and ambulance. The medical teams with the help of locals and police took out the injured from the car and rushed them to a nearby hospital where seven out of eight died while one is undergoing treatment,” the officer added. The truck driver and his helper did not sustained any injury.

The deceased have been identified as Imran Khan (32), Ghazi Khan (30), Imran (35), Iqbal Khan (38), Islam (32), Rafique Khan (33) and Babu Khan. “So far we have came to know that some of the deceased have criminal background too. We are obtaining their records,” Gautam told.

She added that prima facie it appeared that the accident took place as the car was trying to overtake truck. She added that the truck was not seized as the accident happened due to the car driver’s negligence.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed his grief over the incident. “Deeply saddened to know of a road accident in which seven people have lost lives at Salasar Fatehpur Road in Salasar area, Churu. My heart goes out to their families. May they find strength. Prayers for speedy recovery of those injured.” Gehlot tweeted.
