Rajasthan to prepare one lakh isolation beds to fight Covid-19

JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot ordered officials to prepare 1,00,000 isolation beds to meet any emergency, as the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state rose to 29.

He held a meeting with the Army, Air Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Railways and other central agencies on Sunday evening to seek their support to fight the coronaviru­s disease.

The CM asked officials to identify colleges, hostels, hospitals and hotels for keeping people in isolation. “There is nothing bigger than saving lives and for this, the government will ensure all possible measures by taking all into confidence,” he added.

Gehlot told district collectors to take help of army, paramilita­ry forces, home guards and civil defence in tackling the crisis.

Each district has been told to prepare quarantine beds. Jaipur district administra­tion was told to prepare 10,000 such beds.

Gehlot said the government has created a fund of ₹25 crore for doctors and paramedica­l staff engaged in fight against SarsCov-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. “Untied fund has been provided to district collectors to face this challenge. Jaipur will get ₹30 lakh, other divisional headquarte­rs ₹20 lakh each and all other districts will be given ₹10 lakh each,” he said.
