Rajasthan tally reaches 328
JAIPUR/ JODHPUR/ KOTA: Twentyseven new cases of coronavirus disease ( C o v i d - 1 9 ) we r e reported in Rajasthan on Tuesday, taking the state’s total to 328. Sixteen of these came from the western Rajasthan – nine from Jodhpur and seven from Jaisalmer, officials said.
According to the 2pm report from the health department, out of the nine Jodhpur cases, six are family members of a person found positive on Monday and seventh is his wife.
The eighth case, a 25-year-old man, is a contact of a woman found positive on Tuesday; both are hospital staff of Goyal Hospital.
The ninth case is a woman identified during house-tohouse survey around Udaimandir. She complained of influenza-like illness (ILI).
Officials said her history is being traced.
Jodhpur additional district collector Mahipal Bhardwaj said t hat out of t he 30 cases reported so far, 25 had no idea that they were infected with coronavirus. “There may be more cases without symptoms. Proportionally, more testing has been done in Jodhpur district, but it is still difficult to say how many infected people are still away from the test,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Jodhpur police imposed curfew in three more police station areas of Jodhpur City on Monday night. Four other police station areas were already under curfew.
I n Jaisalmer’s Pokaran, seven people tested positive on Tuesday and all of them are contacts of a person who was earlier found positive in Bikaner.
Tuesday’s positive cases included seven from Banswara , one from Churu with travel history to Nizamuddim and three in Jaipur, including an eight-year-old boy.
In Kota, the district administration is following the Bhilwara model of containment after 10 people tested positive for Covid-19. The district administration has imposed curfew in four police station areas of the city and sealed Makbara, Rampura, Kishorepura and Bheemganjmandi areas.
Kota divisional commissioner LN Soni said out of the 10 positive patients, nine belong to one family. “The focus is on limiting mobility of the people in the affected areas and on collecting samples from community to contain the transmission,” he said.
Kota chief medical and health officer Dr BS Tanwar said that the source of the infection was unknown. “We are working with intelligence agencies to ascertain the source,” he said.
