JAIPUR: After Ramganj emerged as the biggest hot spot for Covid-19 in Rajasthan, Jaipur city police have made the walled city areas stricter for containing the transmission of the Sars-cov-2 virus.

Additional commissioner of police (addl CP), law and order, Ajay Pal Lamba said that anybody who is living in the walled city will not be allowed to move out.

According t o t he health department, 102 people have been found positive for coronavirus in Jaipur city till 9am on Tuesday.

The city reported 39 positive Covid-19 cases on Sunday. The virus spread in the walled city after a corona-positive man who had come from Oman infected more than 20 people. He came from Oman to Jaipur on March 13 and tested positive on March 26. The next day his friend tested positive and then the friend’s mother and son.

“Anybody who is living in the walled city and its nearby areas will not be allowed to move out from their home even if they come under the category of essential services, such as doctor, health staff, cleaning staff, and journalist. We have taken this step for containment of transmission,” Lamba said.

“There would be no ban of entry of doctors, health staff, journalists and sanitation staff coming from areas other than the walled city,” he added.

The officer said curfew has been extended to Lal Kothi and Bhatta Basti police station areas situated on the peripheries of the walled city.

A total of 1500 policemen, including three companies of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC), and 900 home guards have been deployed to maintain law and order and ensure that people don’t violate the lockdown guidelines.

“2400 security personnel are doing their duty in three shifts. RAC is doing barricading at around 50 to 60 points in these areas. In every police station area, an additional superintendent of police officer rank officer is leading and ensuring that nobody breaks guidelines of government. At every hour, police are making announcements to make the public aware,” Lamba said.

The city police are also monitoring the movement of people through Abhay Command Centre, a corona war room through which they are getting live feed from 800 cameras installed all across the city. As many as 150 of them are PTZ cameras that can rotate 360 degrees, the rest are fixed.
