THE DIST ADMIN IN JAIPUR HAS ROLLED OUT E-RICKSHAWS TO RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS

JAIPUR: The district administration in Jaipur has rolled out e-rickshaws to raise public awareness on containing coronavirus and adopting preventive measures. The e-rickshaws have spread out to every market, street and locality in the Pink City to spread the word.

As part of the awareness drive, the e-rickshaws on Sunday plied on the streets of Chitrakoot, Dhavas, Girdharipura, Gandhi Path, Gandhi Nagar, Bajaj Nagar, Tonk Phatak, Lalkothi, Mahesh Nagar, Transport Nagar, Baiji Ki Kothi, Jagatpura, Murlipura, Vidyadhar Nagar and Loha Mandi.

The e-rick drivers are clad in T-shirts scripted with messages on how to keep oneself safe from the virus and also spot face masks. Municipal vehicles will join the drive soon, officials said.

The state g o v e r n ment believes that public awareness is the best way to contain the spread of coronavirus and this drive is a step to that end. “While good governance has resulted in lesser deaths from Covid-19 and a good recovery rate, an element of negligence is being observed in the general public. This also explains why Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the city. Hence, the awareness campaign, which was held between June 21 and July 7, has been extended,” official release by the district administration read.

“Covid-19 awareness is also being raised through a districtlevel exhibition at a government school in Banipark. The event has been on since July 1 and will c u l mi n a t e o n Augus t 3 1 . Through audio messages and similar campaigns, people on every street and every market are being made aware of ways to stay safe,” the release further reads.

In the audio messages, district collector Antar Singh Nehra has urged residents to wear masks when outdoors, to not spit in the open and follow social distancing norms in crowded places. Along with e-rick drivers, civil defence volunteers are also being roped in to mobilise similar awareness campaigns.
