BHARATPUR: A 29-year-old worker of a solar plant company in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, who was abducted for a ransom by some unidentified people at gunpoint from Kaman in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan on Wednesday, was rescued on Thursday, police said.

According to the police, abductors had submitted an online application to the Ghaziabad-based company to set up a solar plant in the Mewat region. When a worker of the company, Mohit Chauhan, reached Kaman for the solar plant installation on Wednesday evening, he was abducted by around a dozen people at gunpoint.

They took Chauhan to a secluded place in the Khoh police station area, tied him with ropes and forced him to make a mobile call to his family members for a ransom, following which the victim’s kin transferred them the ransom money.

Bharatpur superintendent of police Devendra Kumar Bishnoi said that after receiving information from the Ghaziabad police about the man’s abduction, police teams were formed to trace him in the Mewat region.

Bishnoi said when abductors saw the police coming, they fired on them and fled the scene taking advantage of the hilly area. Police rescued Chauhan from the place. Chauhan told the police that the abductors had also robbed him of his laptop, mobile, ATM card and cash.

Police have launched a hunt for the unidentified abductors, Bishnoi said.

The Mewat region of Bharatpur district is infamous for criminal incidents such as dacoity, murder and cheating.
