HUT CATCHES FIRE, MAN BURNT ALIVE

KOTA: A 55-year-old man was charred to death in Bundi district after his hut caught fire when he was asleep, police said on Thursday.

Ratanlal Dhakad, a resident of Karwar village, died on Wednesday night and his body was handed over to his family members after postmortem, they said.

KOTA: A man killed his daughter in Dausa district on Thursday for fleeing with her lover after her marriage a few days back, police said.

Superinten­dent of police Anil Beniwal said, “She was married on February 16 but after returning home, she fled with her lover. Later, her father alleged that she had been abducted. He surrendere­d today and said that he killed her.”

The police official said the deceased and her lover had earlier filed a petition in the high court regarding their safety. The court had instructed police to provide protection to the couple.

After her marriage, the woman returned to her parents’ house on February 19 and fled with her lover on February 21.

The parents had lodged a complaint with police in Dausa, alleging abduction of their daughter. The woman and her lover filed a plea in the high court for security in the last week of February.
