SEERS PROTEST ILLEGAL MINING IN RELIGIOUS HILLS

BHARATPUR Thousands of seers staged a protest at the district collector office over illegal mining in religious hills in Mewat region of Bharatpur on Friday.

They reached through a rally with dance and singing bhajans on roads. Seers from Mathura,vrindavan and Govardhan. along with women, participat­ed in the protest.

Seers have been on sit-in for the last 48 days at Pasopa village under sub-division Deeg to demand stopping of mining in hills of Braj Mewat region.

Thousands of protesters demanded to take legal action against illegal mining.

They alleged that mafia have been mining illegally and destroying religious hills in forest land for a long time. Locals and saints in Braj region will not keep silent when religious hills are not stopped to damage.

Shri Aadi Badrinath Dham is located under Nagar tehsil of Mewat region in Bharatpur which has a hill in a big area. The hill is connected with the sentiments of Hindu religion where lord Krishan played there.sub- divisions Bayana,rupwas, Kaman, Nagar and Pahari have been infamous for illegal mining where locals always register complaints to officials and raise demands to stop illegal mining.

Radha Kant Shashtri said, “The famous land of lord Krishna has many religious hills. All hills have been damaged by mining mafia,but officials failed to save them. The hills represent faith of people.”

“Our agitation against illegal mining will be continue. We have handed over a memorandum to the district collector for the chief minister to fulfil our demands,” Shashtri said.
