MLAS, ex-mlas to be vaccinated in assembly

JAIPUR: Rajasthan’s MLAS, EX-MLAS and their family members will be given the Covid-19 vaccine from Monday,

The state has lost 4 MLAS during the Covid pandemic.

CM Ashok Gehlot and former CM Vasundhara Raje were vaccinated on Friday, now the sitting MLAS, around 1022 ex-mlas and their family members will be vaccinated in phases.

The members who are above 60 years and those above 45 with specific co-morbiditie­s will be vaccinated.

“It is for the first time that the MLAS, ex-mlas and their family members are being vaccinated at the state assembly. The move will motivate others and send a message among masses, and remove any kind of apprehensi­on,” said Mahesh Joshi, chief Whip.

A senior official of state assembly said all the arrangemen­ts for vaccinatio­n has been made – sitting members and others will vaccinated in phases. On Monday sitting MLAS are called for vaccinatio­n.

Of the 21 ministers – nine are above 60; nine between 45-60 years; and three are below 45.

Meanwhile, amid rising Covid19 cases in the state, Shree Eklingi Trust of the renowned Eklingi temple of Udaipur has decided to keep the temple closed on 11 and 12 March. Recently, 25 students and three teachers of a school in Udaipur were found Covid positive.

Thereafter on Saturday, 14 students of girls’ hostel in Bhilwara were found positive.

Visitors to Rajasthan from Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat need to have negative reverse transcript­ionpolymer­ase chain reaction test (RT-PCR) reports for Covid-19 for entry into the state, chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s office said in a statement. The rule is also applicable to visitors from Maharashtr­a and Kerala which was notified earlier.
