FIVE DEAD DUE TO SHORTAGE OF OXYGEN IN HISAR, FAMILIES PROTEST

HISAR: Five Covid-19 patients died at a private hospital in Hisar district of Haryana on Monday allegedly due to a shortage of medical oxygen, with the family members protesting against what they termed as “medical negligence”.

This is the third such incident in the state in the past 24 hours, and in all, 13 Covid-19 patients have died allegedly for want of medical oxygen.

All five patients were above 45; three of them were above 60 years of age.

Relatives of the deceased held a protest outside the Sony Burn Hospital, alleging acute shortage of medical oxygen there.

Hisar deputy superinten­dent of police (DSP) Rajbir Singh confirmed that five people undergoing Covid-19 treatment died at the hospital but the exact cause of deaths was yet to be ascertaine­d. “The relatives of the deceased alleged that all of them were on ventilator support and died due to shortage of oxygen supply. The hospital authoritie­s have not spoken on the issue yet,” he added.

The nephew of a 42-year-old man who died on Monday said the doctors failed to provide proper treatment” My Uncle died due to shortage of oxygen supply,” this person said.

On Sunday, four patients died at private hospitals in Gurugram and Rewari each , allegedly due to shortage of oxygen supply.
