Laporte header seals League Cup triumph for City
LONDON: Manchester City claimed a record-equalling fourth successive League Cup triumph as Aymeric Laporte’s late headed goal sealed a deserved 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Spurs had soaked up intense City pressure for most of the game to somehow stay in contention at Wembley Stadium.
But City finally made the breakthrough in the 82nd minute from an unlikely source as defender Laporte met Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick and headed past goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
A combination of Lloris, lastditch defending and some poor City finishing had kept the 8,000 crowd on tenterhooks but in the end Pep Guardiola’s side got their reward.
Man Utd held by Leeds
Manchester United drew 0-0 with Leeds on Sunday to stay on track for a second-place finish in the Premier League. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men extended their unbeaten away league run to 24 matches but both teams looked short of imagination in a lacklustre encounter at Elland Road. The result takes United to 67 points after 33 games, 10 points behind leaders Man City but eight points clear of thirdplaced Leicester. A day earlier, Chelsea defeated West Ham 1-0 to boost their top four hopes.

Three goals in seven minutes before half-time saw Villarreal take the lead and then swiftly throw it away as Griezmann equalised with a sumptuous lob before capitalising on a misplaced backpass to make it two. Barca are level on points with Real Madrid, having a played a game less, and two behind leaders Atletico, who face Athletic Bilbao later on Sunday.
Covid has changed our lives in a bad way. From last year everything changed, not just Motogp but life in general. It was difficult to manage. The championship started in July, we had to stay three months closed at home, it was a really boring situation. After (the season started) we had to do a lot of back-to-back races on the same tracks, could not go out of Europe so 2020 was
Yes, this year I race for Petronas. It’s a new experience for me but I feel very good in the team. It’s a great place, the atmosphere is good, everybody has a lot of motivation. Unfortunately the first races have not been fantastic.
Yes last year Mir won just one race but he was competitive more or less everywhere and at the end he won the championship. This year is a bit different because the championship is
