LS SPEAKER TAKES INITIATIVE TO SET UP OXYGEN BANK
KOTA: An oxygen concentrator bank will be set up in Kota on the initiative of MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla amid a crunch of the life-saving gas and other medical facilities in the hospitals of Government Medical College, Kota.
Birla has urged coaching institutes, industrialists, traders and intellectuals of Kota to contribute to the oxygen concentrator bank for ensuring oxygen to the needy Covid-19 patients.
“Helpline numbers of the bank have been issued through which donated oxygen concentrators will be sent to Covid-19 patients taking treatment at their homes,” Om Maheshwari,” founder of the oxygen concentrator bank and director of Career Point.
Deepak Rajvanshi, a member of the bank, said, “Initially 50 concentrators have been donated.”
Meanwhile, UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal has donated ₹2.60 crore from his MLALAD fund for purchase of 200 oxygen concentrators and eight ambulances. He has also sanctioned ₹2.09 crores from Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), Kota for buying 150 beds, 400 oxygen cylinders and 200 multi-parameter monitors.
A delegation of three ministers from Rajasthan -- health minister Raghu Sharma, Dhariwal and power minister BD Kalla -- met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union minister Nitin Gadkari for resolving oxygen crunch in the state.
