NRI TO GIVE ₹1 CR TO SET UP ICU AT BARMER HOSPITAL
BARMER An NRI from Barmer, Prithviraj Singh Kolu, will give ₹1 crore to set up an ICU at Barmer government hospital, health department officials said. On Monday, representatives of Kolu met Barmer district collector Lok Bandhu, MLA Mewaram Jain and health department authorities. During the meeting, they announced to give ₹1 crore to set up an ICU at the Barmer government hospital. Dr RK Aseri, principal and controller at the Government Medical College in Barmer, said, “The new ICU will be equipped with 30 multiparameter patient monitor beds and other advanced facilities.”
Barmer MLA Mewaram Jain said he is constantly in touch with philanthropists, considering the pandemic and crisis in medical facilities. “Recently I talked to Prithviraj Singh Kolu and informed him about the crisis and asked him to support the medical infrastructure. It is good that people are coming forward to support a noble cause; it will help in better handling of the pandemic situation.”
Last week two Barmer-based industrialists Jogendra Singh and Rajendra Singh donated 500 oxygen cylinders to the Barmer hospital. The approx cost of 500 oxygen cylinders was estimated around ₹1.5 crore.
