F1 introduces new sprint qualifying

NEW DELHI: Formula 1 is set to debut a new sprint qualifying format at three Grands Prix in 2021 which will see drivers battle over 100km on Saturday with the result deciding the starting grid for Sunday’s race. The current qualifying format will decide the grid for sprint qualifying on Friday. There’ll be one 60minute practice session on both Friday and Saturday. The top three in Saturday’s sprint qualifying will receive points–three for first place, two for second and one for third.
