An altered state

This refers to Mark Tully’s The contours of the Bengal battle (April 25). If the exit polls in Tamil Nadu and Kerala are to be believed, the BJP can only be defeated on ideological lines. Whether it is the TMC or the BJP which triumphs in Bengal, it has to be conceded that the political culture in the state has been altered.

The same cannot be said of the two southern states.
