“The initiative will help in reducing deaths and lessen the burden on hospitals. The health workers during the survey identify infected and high-risk group people, ensuring they get treatment on priority,” said a senior official of the health department.

The official said that the Covid-19 situation is “serious” in the state and now every third-fourth person tested is infected. “The testing capacity of the state is close to a lakh, which is nothing looking to the increasing number,” he said.

On identifying influenza like illness (ILI), sever acute respiratory infection (SARI) symptoms, the infected people are encouraged to visit Covid centres, he said.

Of the 40 million people surveyed, Covid-19 symptoms were found in 468,000 and the medicine kit was distributed to over 4,26,000 people. The medical kit has three tablets of Azithromycin, 10 paracetamol, 10 levocitrazin, 20 zinc sulphate and 10 tablets of vitamin-c and ascorbic acid.

The active cases in Rajasthan have reached close to 2 lakhs and cumulative figure crossed 5000.
