Aakanksha Singh auctions wardrobe to help the pandemic-hit
After organising a food distribution drive in her home town in Jaipur, Aakanksha Singh recently auctioned her wardrobe to raise funds for Covid-19 relief in Mumbai. “I thought I’d give away my wardrobe to help Covid patients. I hope people will join hands and come together to help me with this cause and buy the clothes I am putting on sale,” she says.
At a time when scores of people across the country are battling Covid-19, Singh believes that public figures have greater responsibility to help those in need and set a precedent for others. She shares, “Covid has hit us hard and the situation we are in is really sad. People are struggling with hospital expenses, oxygen cylinders and other health care. Public figures have a greater responsibility to do their bit as they can motivate people to come together and extend a helping hand.”
The Pailwan (2019) actor says that she is overwhelmed with the way the film industry has unified to amplify requests and requirements surrounding Covid-19. “It’s great to see people of our industry coming together and helping out in their own way. I’m happy to see people are using social media to provide help. My only request to everybody is to only post the verified leads because it otherwise might delay the help to those who urgently need it,” she signs off.
