‘Working on a web series feels like shooting for four films together’
Priya Bapat has been very active in the Marathi film industry, having delivered successful films like Timepass 2 (2015), Vazandar (2016) and Aamhi Doghi (2018). She will now be seen playing the lead in the second season of Mayanagari - City Of Dreams, a Hindi web series. “I would like to do any role that comes my way, only thing is that it has to challenge me. If it doesn’t challenge my core then I won’t be able to perform it with my full potential,” she says.
Sharing her experience of shooting for a web show, she says, “Working on a web series is not very much different from a movie. It feels like shooting for four films together, that’s why you also get more time to find the depth in your character and creatively add more to it.”
Having portrayed different characters over the years, Bapat says, “I’m an actor who is hungry for good roles that satisfy me. The length of the character doesn’t matter as much as what the character does to the script.” She adds that she would love to explore the genre of science fiction someday.
Talking about the difference between the Hindi and the Marathi film industries, she says, “It’s just the production scale that changes.” So what is it about her job that excites her the most? “I literally get to live so many lives by playing different characters. That’s why I became an actor in the first place,” replies Bapat.
Letting us in on her process of preparing for new roles, the actor says, “I do my research about the characters and learn whatever I can before the shoot but during the shoot, I let myself be and just go with the
flow .”
