Have a skill? Collect funds for Covid relief, say creative souls pan India
The pandemic has ignited resolve in commoners to help out with the little they can. Artists, writers and musicians, have come forward to raise funds for Covid relief. Divya Gupta, a Bengaluru-based illustrator, recently put up a social media post offering to draw portraits of people and their pets to support Covid relief initiatives. She is elated with the response. “I listed a few organisations where people could contribute, and asked them to send proof of their donations. Once I receive proof, I make a portrait for the person. I didn’t expect such magnanimity; people from overseas have reached out and some have donated multiple times,” she says.
Gupta has 30 portraits lined up for this week. “I asked for a donation of at least ₹1,500 per portrait. I know it’s a drop in the ocean, but it’s something at least,” adds Gupta.
A professional in the development sector, Moulshri Mohan from Delhi, gathers contributions for volunteerled initiative by reviewing essays for students. She offers to review essays for students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate courses abroad. “I review essays in exchange for donations worth ₹2,500 or USD 100 and above,” says Mohan. She has received donations worth ₹35,000 and looks to raise more funds.
