Father and brother of the accused were present during the wedding, the official said.

Bharti, the circle inspector of Ramganjmandi police station, said that the woman had lodged a rape complaint against the man, who lived in Maruti Nagar, on May 3. During the probe, police found that the woman had lodged the complaint after the man, with whom she was in a relationship, refused to marry her. On the police intervention, the accused and the complainant agreed to marry each other, he said.

However, the woman said that she had lodged the FIR against the accused after he refused to marry her despite being in a relationship. “Police helped me and comprehended both the sides, after which our families agreed for the wedding,” she said.

She said she has withdrawn the case against the accused, but her statements are due in the case, which will be recorded in a day or two. “I am happy to get married with my beloved,” she said.
