51-YEAR-OLD BSF JAWAN SHOOTS SELF IN JAISALMER

-

BARMER: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle near Shahganj Buldge area in Jaisalmer district late on Wednesday night, police said.

Jaisalmer additional superintendent of police Vipin Sharma said the jawan shot himself around 1:30 am in his barrack. After hearing the gunshot, soldiers rushed him to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police are yet to find the reason for the alleged suicide, but suspect that the jawan ended his life out of depression due to family-related issues. The 51-year-old jawan, who belonged to Bhind in Madhya Pradesh, had joined duty on April 30 after completing onemonth leave, Sharma said.
