1mn lease deeds to be given to regularise houses: Minister
The state government will give one million lease deeds for plots to provide relief to people seeking regularisation of their houses in cities, urban development and housing (UDH) minister Shanti Dhariwal said.
The beneficiaries will be those who have built their houses on agricultural land, and in slums and old populated areas.
“The state government has promised to provide lease to people under its budget announcements; government is committed to extending relief to people,” Dhariwal said.
“The present priority of the state government is management of the second wave of Covid-19. Once the pandemic subsides, the state government has plans to start its ‘Prashasan Sheharo
ke Sang’ campaign from October 2.”
He said the entire process of applying for lease deeds and their disposal will be done online. “Only the beneficiaries will have to personally collect their lease deeds,” he said.
“We have asked chief executive officers of all municipal corporations and executive officers of municipal councils and municipalities to list houses/ plots, where issuing lease deeds could face obstacles, and provide suggestions on how such people can be provided relief,” the minister said.
“Not only people will get lease deeds under Prashasan Sheharo ke sang from October 2 but the drive will also increase revenue of municipal and local self-government bodies through collection of lease deed preparation fees,” said Dhariwal.
The base maps of the colonies seeking lease deeds are being prepared and a drone survey of the colonies will be carried out under the campaign.
During the tenure of the Gehlot government from 2008 to 2013, nearly 300,000 lease deeds were distributed.
The Gehlot government will also appoint ‘nagar mitra’ volunteers who would help people in lease deed preparation work.
