Bahut bura haal ho gaya hai: Raghav seeks help for ‘collapsing’ Uttarakhand

- Sugandha Rawal

Uttarakhand, which is crumbling under inadequate facilities and the surge in Covid-19 cases.

“Bahut bura haal ho gaya hai. We are running short of everything, from oxygen to beds to ICUS. I don’t know why it isn’t in the news and why people aren’t talking about it,” says Juyal, bemoaning, “Yahan sab kuch collapse ho chuka hai, log bahar street pe dum tod rahe hain.”

According to Juyal — who is out on the field to help people in Dehradun — the past four days have been intense, where once they got 30 calls for ventilators and could arrange just one. He reveals that 10 out of the 29 patients died.

This is the helplessness that pushed him to send out an SOS call through a video on Instagram, which was shared by his colleagues, including actors Varun Dhawan, Vicky Kaushal and filmmaker Remo D’souza. “I don’t have an organisation through which I can take up a task of this magnitude. I have exhausted my resources, aur ab mere paas kuch bacha nahin hai,” he tells us.

And the support he has got ever since he posted the video is overwhelming. “Vicky aur Varun bhai ka phone aaya and they expressed shock that they didn’t know the gravity of the situation here. Sonu (Sood, actor) bhai also called and assured me of help,” he shares.

Now, Juyal just wants people to get together and extend help for his state. “We can’t put everything under the carpet. We need to come out and ask for help. Help maangne se hum chhote nahin ho jaenge,” says the 29-year-old.

Here, he insists that he doesn’t want to indulge in any blame game or highlight inefficiency. “Hum ek saath honge toh aa jaayenge is crisis se bahar,” he concludes.
