Active cases in Jaipur district rise three times in three days

JAIPUR: Covid-19 active cases in Jaipur district have increased three times in three days -- from 18,000 to over 51,000 -- and the positivity rate remained close to 30%, according to the health department data, prompting the government to plan more stringent measures to curb the virus spread.

Health minister Raghu Sharma said that of the total active cases in Rajasthan, seven districts, including

Jaipur, account for 125,000. “The health department will soon have a special strategy for these districts.”

A health official said that of the total 212,000 active cases in the state, Jaipur has 51,487, followed by Jodhpur (23,031), Udaipur (11,596), Alwar (10,807), Kota (8,208), Bikaner (5,037) and Ajmer (5,128).

“The department will impose stricter norms in areas with infection rate of 10% or more,” he said.
