Asaram’s son to court: Allow my father to get ayurvedic treatment

After Asaram Bapu, who is serving life imprisonme­nt in Jodhpur Central Jail in a minor girl’s rape case, now his son has approached the Rajasthan High Court for the ayurvedic treatment of his father.

The court has directed the state government to give details of treatment and medical status of Asaram to the counsel of the petitioner in two days.

Asaram is infected with Covid-19 and is admitted to AIIMS Jodhpur.

Earlier, he has filed a suspension of sentence applicatio­n for interim bail demanding that he be allowed to treat Covid-19 and other diseases in Prakash Deep Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences (PDI), Uttarakhan­d.

In a single bench of Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur, on behalf of the petitioner Narayan Sai, the counsel Sanjiv Punalekar said that the treatment which is being extended and the medical condition of the petitioner’s father should be told to the family at least through their counsel. Public Prosecutor Anil Joshi said that in view of the directions given by the court, they have been directed to place on record the condition of the patient along with the medical treatment before the court on May 21.
