Governance in state should be decentralised, says Cong MLA

- HT Correspondent

JAIPUR: A day after MLA Hemaram Choudhary submitted his resignation, another Congress MLA Ved Prakash Solanki on Wednesday said the governance should be decentralised in Rajasthan.

First time MLA from Chaksu, Solanki also belongs to the Sachin Pilot’s group and was among 19 MLA who rebelled against chief minister Ashok Gehlot in 2020.

Calling Choudhary’s resignation “unfortunate”, he said such a senior leader, who is honest and humble, has been six times MLA, has resigned. Such leaders should be with Congress, which is the need of hour, he said. “Choudhary is our ideal, messiah of poor people and there is no honest leader like him in Rajasthan. His demand or reason for resignation should be looked into by high command. May be his patience limit was over and he resigned. I urge him to withdraw resignation and Congress remain strengthened. But it should be probed, why he took this step,” said Solanki.

He said, “It is true the bureaucracy is dominating. Earlier also, I have stated that the governance should be decentralized and involvement of maximum people should be there. When participation is less then bureaucracy will be dominating -- there are many departments which are without ministers, there the bureaucracy is dominating.”

Addressing news persons, he said, “Earlier also I had urged that as soon as possible the power should be decentralized, so that maximum people get opportunity; more the people, maximum work of workers will happen.” He also questioned political appointments made by the government. He said the high command should see, who all are Congress workers, which has been appointed as chairperson of coards and commissions. Family members of those have been made member in commission, who fought against Rahul Gandhi.

Congress MLA from Dausa, murari Lal Meena from Pilot faction also called Choudhary’s decision to resign “unfortunate”.

BJP Spokesperson Ram Lal Sharma said the Congress central leadership a year back had constituted a committee to resolve their grievances in a time bound manner, but nothing has been done, and now public will suffer because of it.

On Tuesday Hemaram Choudhary sent his resignation to speaker CP Joshi. The reason of his resignation could not be learnt immediately.
