Everyone is doing their bit for Covid-19 relief in their own way — with money, time, or using their social media influence. So is Erica Fernandez, whose endeavour is to help alleviate concerns of her fans. The actor has been doing Instagram Live sessions with experts, answering questions sent by her followers.

“People need to watch stuff that is beneficial for them instead of Covid-19 updates. The constant bombardment of negative news plays on your mind... So, I wanted to reach out to my followers, and do something for them,” shares Fernandez.

Till now, her special sessions have featured a doctor working in a Covid-19 ward, a mental health expert, a gynaecologist, a dermatologist and a chef. Next up, she plans to talk to a fitness expert, pediatricians, a vet, a spiritual guru, and more.

“Talking to professionals from different sectors is helping many out there. I keep identities hidden, so everyone feels comfortable asking any kind of question. Moreover, I feel that due to the pandemic, there are so many subjects that we are overlooking. That’s why I’m not limiting my sessions to just the pandemic,” Fernandez, 28, explains.

Kids and pets are some such topics. She adds, “We have to take care of kids’ mental and physical well-being, and the same goes for pets. People feed biscuits to stray dogs, but flour and sugar are harmful for them. Abandoning animals is another issue. Pets are a responsibility that one has to be ready for.”
