Old tees Time to spruce up those
The lockdown period has seen many prioritise comfort clothing, realigning the way we consume fashion. With shopping having taken a backseat due to the pandemic, fashionistas are now restyling their old, wornout clothes in myriad ways.
“Tie-dye is a major trend and the simplest DIY. Dye colourings are easily available online and it gives your old T-shirt a nice, groovy edge. You can try to add turmeric or beetroot in water to make natural dyes at home. Cropping an old tee is also great. Chop its sleeve, or crop it from the waistline, and pair with high waist pants,” suggests stylist Ayesha Amin Nigam.
Another way to revamp old clothes is to play with fabric paints. You could paint seasonal fruits on them, or splash different colours to make it look vibrant. You can also add pearls on the collar or neckline, sew lines on the tee or experiment with patchwork.
Stylist Isha Bhansali recommends using stick-ons to spruce up shirts. “You can get stick-ons online. Stick it and iron over the other side. Over these prints, you can further add stick-on studs. If you have a very old shirt, cut it and make it into a bandana. If the fabric is stretchable, you can make different styles of bandanas. But, make sure they are symmetrical. Use a pencil or chalk before you cut your shirt, so that it looks professional,” she adds.
