Nagaur starts survey to identify anaemic, malnourished kids
With a view to prevent Covid-19 infection among children, Nagaur district administration has initiated a door-todoor campaign to identify malnourished and anaemic children and treat them.
Informing about the campaign, Nagaur district collector Jitendra Kumar Soni said that medical experts have cautioned that malnourished and anaemic kids will be vulnerable to catching Covid-19 infection due to low immunity.
“Hence, the district administration has decided to run a campaign named Ladesar to identify the malnourished and anaemic kids in the district,” he said.
“ICDS, medical and health department and education department will jointly conduct a survey of the malnourished and anaemic kids in the district,” he added.
Soni said that children up to 15 years of age will be covered in the survey.
“Instructions have been given to the officials for carrying out this grassroots level survey by 3-4 June this year, so that necessary steps can be taken for preventing Covid-19 infection among malnourished and anemic kids,” he said.
Anganbari workers, ASHA health workers, auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMS) and school teachers will jointly conduct the survey.
The survey information will be sent to the deputy director of ICDS, who will, in turn, pass on the survey report to the district collector.
The identified malnourished kids will be given a special medical kit for treatment of their anemia and malnourishment, Soni said.
“Not only survey of malnourished and anaemic kids will be done in the campaign, but if any kid is found with Covid-19 infection, then special care and arrangements will be made for their Covid-19 cure,” he added.
The medical kit will comprise nutritious food packet for improving immunity and nourishment in the malnourished kids.
Severely malnourished kids will be sent to malnourishment treatment centre, while less severe will be referred to nearby community health centre.
Covid vaccination of parents of malnourished kids will be done on priority for safety of malnourished kids, who are prone to Covid infection, he said. KOTA:
