Virat’s new look — real or morphed — gets fans talking

- Prerna Gauba Sibbal

Last night, social media was flooded with a picture of cricketer Virat Kohli donning a new haircut which left everyone stumped. It was speculated that the look was for his next championship and resembled that of The Professor played by Alvaro Morte in the web series, Money Heist. Soon, there were several memes on the internet as people juxtaposed his image with The Professor. When we spoke to hairstylists, some called it a new lockdown look and some said it was photoshopped.

“This is a good style for a lean face like his, making him look stylish and sincere at the same time .... ” says hairstylist Jawed Habib.

Hairstylist Rod Anker felt it needed to be groomed well. “It just looks like a grown out haircut, not at all deserving of any attention,” says Anker. Bollywood hairstylist Alim Hakim believes it is photoshopped. “About 15 days back, in the IPL, he had a crew cut, so how is it possible? It takes four to five months to grow this hair,” he adds.

“Even if this is photoshopped, I would love Virat to try this look,” says Kohli’s fan Karan Kapoor, a marketing professional from Delhi. Sources tell us that this look is not real. We reached out to the cricketer, but got no response.
