Govt approves projects demanded by Hemaram
The state government has approved some of the development projects demanded by Congress leader Hemaram Choudhary, who has submitted his resignation from the legislator’s post to the assembly speaker.
The government has given a green signal to a drinking water project worth ₹1,487 crore on May 22 and three 33 kv grid substations (GSS) on May 24, demanded by Choudhary.
Talking to HT, Choudhary said, “Yes, it is true that it is (approval to projects) the outcome of the resignation. If these works were done earlier, there was no need for such step (to resign).”
He said the water project has not only got the sanction, but timeline for its completion has also been reduced by two years. Earlier, it was supposed to be completed by December 2026, which has now been reduced to December 2024, he said.
Six-time MLA from Gudamalani constituency in Barmer district, Choudhary resigned from his assembly seat last Tuesday. He has sent his resignation to the assembly speaker, CP Joshi, but so far, his resignation has not been accepted.
He has reportedly been called in person by the assembly speaker post the lockdown.
Drinking water project gets green signal
A decade old drinking water project worth ₹1,427 crore, which was sanctioned for the Gudamalani assembly constituency in 2012-13 budget has now got a green signal. The project was sanctioned in the previous Gehlot government’s regime, but it remained on papers, as the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government, which came to power in 2013 ignored it.
Waterworks department officials said that the tender process for the project will be completed by December 2021, while the project will be completed by the end of December 2024. On completion of the project; almost all villages of the Gudamalani constituency will have a smooth supply of drinking water, they said.
Three 33-kv GSS get sanction in Barmer
Besides the drinking water project, the government has also sanctioned three grid sub stations (GSS) of 33 kv each for Gudamalani constituency.
It may be mentioned here that soon after submitting his resignation, Choudhary had launched a dharna against a private oil company alleging misuse of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund.
After three days of protest, the oil company officials accepted his demands to ensure better health facilities for the region.
The company has announced to equip the Gudamalani community health centre (CHS) with modern facilities with appointment of four specialist doctors. The company also provided two ambulances for the CHC.
