The petrol prices, for the first time, crossed ₹100 mark in all districts of Rajasthan on Sunday, with the highest price in Ganganagar at ₹104.95 per litre.

Criticising the Union government for the constant increase in fuel prices and inflation, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said “The common man has been badly troubled from the web of inflation woven by the Modi government.”

He said the price of petrol has crossed ₹100 per litre in several states.

“The common man is already disturbed due to Covid and declining income, and the Modi government is creating trouble with inflation,” he said.

Gehlot said that the central government is constantly reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel, in which the states used to get their share, but imposing special excise duty and additional excise duty to fill its coffers.

Gehlot said that one-third income of the central government is from the taxes on petrol and diesel.

“When the central government was supposed to give relief by reducing tax on petroldiesel, it imposed a new tax (on petrol and diesel) in the budget this year. This has increased transportation charges, due to which inflation is increasing,” he said

In Rajasthan the petrol prices have crossed ₹100 per litre mark across all the 33 districts. The petrol prices are increasing constantly.

In last 26 days, the prices have been increased around 15 times. On Saturday also, 0.27 paise on petrol and 0.30 paise on diesel was increased.

Rajasthan Petroleum Dealer Association president Suneet Bagai said, “It’s for the first time in the history of the state that prices of petrol have crossed ₹100 across all districts.”

He said when the international crude oil prices increases by 10 paise, its impact is more than three times in India. Around 262% taxes are there on basic price, paid by the consumer, which is highest in the world. The crude price is ₹38 per litre, the centre imposes ₹32.98 as tax and rest of the tax is imposed by the state government.

“When the centre has brought everything under the GST, why not petrol and diesel? The public should get one price across the country,” he said.

Reacting over the issue, BJP spokesperson Mukesh Pareek said, “Rajasthan government is charging maximum taxes in comparison to other states on petrol and diesel. The chief mininteraction
