TWO ARRESTED FOR MURDER OF DOCTOR COUPLE IN BHARATPUR

- HT Correspondent

Two days after a doctor couple was shot dead in Bharatpur, the police on Sunday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the murder.

The police arrested Daulat Gurjar and Nirbhan Gurjar for providing wherewithal to main accused Anuj Gurjar and Mahesh Gurjar.

According to superintendent of police, Bhratpur, Devendra Kumar Bishnoi, Daulat was arrested for lending bike to the assailants. Nirbhan also helped in organising the gangland style raid on Dr Sudeep Gupta and his wife Dr Seema Gupta.

The sources in Rajasthan police said that Dholpur police was also roped in to check the whereabouts of Anuj and Mahesh, as it was suspected that the killers had sought a shelter in Dholpur.

The chilling murder had taken place on Friday in the heart of Bharatpur city. Anuj and Mahesh stopped the couple’s car and fired at least five rounds from an illegal country-made pistol colloquially known here as a desi katta.

The couple was killed on the spot in broad daylight at one of the most important roads of the city. The incident took place at a time when a strict lockdown is underway in the state with the police arrangements reportedly beefed up.

The couple was arrested in 2019 and was out on bail in a case relating to the murder of a 25-year-old woman Deepa Devi and her 6-year-old son. Police had then said the woman had an affair with Dr Sudeep. Initially, Dr Seema was arrested for the double murder, but later the police arrested Dr Sudeep too for conspiracy.

Chief assailant, Anuj was identified as Deepa’s brother. He was plotting the murder to avenge the alleged murder of his sister and nephew. BHARATPUR:
