POLICE SUSPECT ARRESTED JAIPUR DOCTOR SOLD FAKE REMDESIVIR

The Jaipur police suspect that several fake remdesiver vials were sold by black-marketers in the city in past two months.

The police’s suspicion was heightened after Kotwali police station on Friday arrested the alleged kingpin of the remdesiver black-marketing gang from Faridabad, identified as Dr Jitesh Arora, an MBBS doctor.

“There were no batch dates on vials. Seized vials did not have names of the company manufacturing them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Paris Deshmukh.

About 9,000 vials seized from Arora’s gang and have been sent to a lab for verification. But the police teams have already been sent to the other parts of the country to track down manufacturers.

“He (Arora) was buying remdesiviers at a very cheap price straight from someone. And he sold it for a higher rate in the black-market. We have found that no established company sold remdesivier at such a low price point,” he said.

Apart from missing batch numbers and production addresses, the police said the packing of the vials evoked equal suspicion. “The investigation is underway and a lab report is expected very soon. But we are trying to seek out Dr. Jitesh Arora’s sellers who provided him vials at the relatively lower price range,” Deshmukh said.

The police on April 21 had arrested one Ram Avtar, a pharmaceutical dealer based in the city. He was selling remdesivir at an exuberant prices, a few days later two close aides of Ram Avtar, identified as Shankar Dayal and Vikram Singh were arrested for the same case of black-marketing,

During the interrogation with Kotwali police station, the accused claimed they were worked Dr Jitesh Arora who lives somewhere in Delhi-ncr. Arora switched off his phone and began frequently changing his location to evade cops.

But after his arrest on Friday morning from Faridabad, the accused was brought to Jaipur. The police are currently trying to get the names and locations of suppliers who sold remdesivir to the accused. JAIPUR:
