GEHLOT SEEKS ZERO TAX RATE FOR COVIDRELATED SUPPLIES

-

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday accused the Union government of making a deliberate attempt to keep the Congress members in the GST Council out of the recently formed group of ministers (GOM) dealing with the matter.

Gehlot tweeted that the Union government has set up a GOM following the GST Council Meeting of May 28. A deliberate attempt has been made to keep the principal opposition party, the Congress, which has three members in the GST Council, out of the GOM. Only the BJP has more members in the GST Council. He said keeping out the Congress members is most unfortunate and strikes at the very roots of cooperative federalism. “We also urge the members of GOM to take into account views expressed by Rajasthan and other mentioned states, wherein we had asked for zero tax rate for Covid-related supplies in public interest,” he tweeted.

BJP spokesperson Mukesh Pareek said the states are member of GST council. BJP ruled states are more than that of the Congress, hence has more members. The issue of zero tax has been raised and the GOI will take decision in public interest.
