STATE ADMINISTERS THIRD HIGHEST DOSES, 90% OF 60+ INOCULATED: DATA
JAIPUR: Rajasthan stands third in terms of Covid vaccination in the country. The state has administered the first dose to over 10.35 million people, according to the state government data.
Maharashtra with 10.80 million doses and Uttar Pradesh with 10.48 million doses are at the first and second places respectively.
According to the government figures, Rajasthan has administered a total of 16,841,240 doses, including 3,263,000 people given both the doses of vaccines.
“Around 90% of the people above 60 years of age have been vaccinated and 60% of those between 45 and 60 years. But inoculation drive for the 18-45 age population continues to move at snail’s pace due to shortage of vaccine; only 1814,000 people (in the 18 plus category) are vaccinated,” said an official familiar with the developments. “Rajasthan is among the leading states across the country in vaccination – the state in a day has vaccinated over 0.55 million people, which can be increased to 0.7 million provided the vaccine is available. But with inadequate availability of the vaccine, the pace couldn’t be maintained,” the official said.
