Family members plant trees in memory of Covid victims
On the World Environment Day, the district administration began an initiative to plant saplings in the name of people who succumbed to the Covid-19 pandemic in Bharatpur.
Led by district collector Himanshu Gupta, around 500 family members of the Covid-19 victims paid homage to their loved ones and planted trees in their names in parks of the city.
“The second wave of Covid-19
has proved critical. We have decided to plant trees on the occasion of World Environment Day,” Gupta said
Superintendent of police (SP) Devendra Kumar Bishnoi, who was also present on the occasion, said, “In corona crisis, we all lost our family members or relatives. Corona taught us a lesson to conserve nature. People should come forward to save and plant tree.”
The officials requested the family members of Covid victims to water the plants and save them.
