CONG TO PROTEST AGAINST HIKE IN FUEL PRICES

-

The Congress will stage statewide demonstrations in front of petrol pumps on June 11 to protest against increasing fuel prices.

Addressing a press conference in Jaipur on Tuesday, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasara said the Centre has increased the prices of petrol and diesel when that of crude oil is less in international market.

“The central government is charging hefty excise duty on petroleum products due to which petrol prices have crossed ₹100 per litre and diesel costs ₹95 per litre, which is very high. People are facing the brunt of high fuel prices,” he said.

Kota district BJP vice president Lakshman Singh Khinchi said the Congress government in the state should first reduce VAT on petroleum products, which is higher compared to many states. “Once VAT is reduced, prices of diesel and petrol will come down significantly.”
