Municipali­ty chief attacked in Bharatpur

BHARATPUR: The chairman of Bayana municipali­ty in Bharatpur district was allegedly attacked by two people while he was going in a car, police said on Wednesday.

The incident happed days after a doctor couple was murdered and Bharatpur MP Ranjita Koli was attacked.

According to a complaint lodged with police, Bayana municipali­ty chairman Vinod Kumar Agarwal was attacked when he, on district collector Himanshu Gupta’s directive, was going in a car to locate a land for a park on Tuesday.

Agarwal said, “Two goons came in a jeep, stopped our car, attacked it and then fled away.

They had also pelted stones at my house during the last election campaign. A police complaint was registered by my driver Rambabu Meena.”

Bayana circle officer Ajay Sharma said the chairman’s driver lodged the complaint against Deva Gurjar from Umred village and Dilip Gurjar from Damdama village.

“We visited the spot to start an investigat­ion and collected CCTV footage. Many cases have been earlier registered against Deva Gurjar in Bayana police station. Legal action will be taken after the investigat­ion into the Tuesday’s incident is over,” Sharma said.

BJP MP Ranjita Koli was attacked by on May 27 when she was going to inspect a community health centre in Weir.
