Unrest continues in state Congress, half-a-dozen legislators call on Pilot
Pilot supporters say governance should be decentralised, call for early political appointments
Unrest continues in the Rajasthan Congress after Sachin Pilot questioned the delay by the AICC panel in resolving the issues. More than half-a-dozen MLAS of the party met Pilot on Thursday extending their support.
The MLAS, including Ved Pakash Solanki, Mukesh Bhakar, Vishwendra Singh, Rakesh Pareek, Suresh Modi and Ramniwas Gawriya, met Pilot at his residence, a day after AICC general secretary Bhanwar Jitendra Singh came out in support of Pilot. Singh said that the promises made to Pilot should be fulfilled.
Singh’s comments had come following Pilot expressed his disappointment on the failure of the committee constituted by the party high command to address the issues he raised last year.
After meeting Pilot, MLA from Chaksu, Ved Prakash Solanki questioned when issues raised in Punjab can be taken up in 10 days, why the same cannot happen in Rajasthan.
Commenting on Pilot’s statement, he said, “There has been no discussion or hearings on the demands raised by us…it’s not about the discussions with us but the way issues of Punjab Congress were heard and a report is submitted in 10 days has disappointed workers here. When in Punjab things can happen in 10 days, why it cannot be done here in 10 months?” officials are appointed, the workers are disappointed.”
“I also want to say that cabinet expansion should be done…if you (the CM) do not want to include people from this side (Pilot faction), then don’t do, consider people from your side but at least appoint someone, whom you like, so that work of public can happen,” he said.
On Bhanwar Jitender Singh’s statement, MLA Mukesh Bhakar said, “He is a senior leader and AICC general secretary and close to Gandhi family – whatever he said must have been said after thinking.” “Singh has supported the voice of workers and leaders who struggled for five years,” he added.
He also seconded Solanki’s stand on cabinet expansion and political appointments.
He said, “Those who worked hard for five years should get their dues.” “Our struggle is ongoing. My leader is Pilot and I am with him always in any political situation,” he said. Bhakar said Pilot is not asking anything for himself but for those workers and leaders who struggled for five years.
