BJP MP demands arrest of attackers

BJP MP from Bharatpur, Ranjita Koli (41), along with her supporters, on Thursday staged a protest outside the office of Bharatpur superinten­dent of police (SP) against the law and order situation in the district.

On May 27, the Bharatpur MP’S car was attacked by five unknown people with stones and iron rods near Dharsoni village on Hantara-weir road under Halena police station area when she was returning to Weir from Raj Bahadur Memorial Hospital in the district at 11.30 pm. She was accompanie­d by her brother, a security guard and two other persons. The car was damaged in the attack, but no one was injured in the attack, though Koli had fainted in the car. She was taken to the district hospital. After first aid, she was discharged from the hospital.

On Thursday, she, along with her supporters, wearing black band on their eyes, protested at the SP office against the attack. She also handed over a memorandum to the SP, Devendra Kumar Bishnoi. “We have handed over a memorandum to the SP seeking arrest of the attackers and safety for common man in the district,” Koli said.

She said a fortnight has passed since the attack, but police have failed to identify the attackers.
