‘LET’S HELP CHILDREN WHO HAVE LOST PARENTS TO COVID-19’

Vikrant Massey urges people to do their bit to help children who have had ‘their futures snatched away from them’

From early this week, a five-level unlock process began in Maharashtra which has called for shoots and production work to recommence in Mumbai. Vikrant Massey, after spending more than a month at home, is now gearing up to resume work. He will begin dubbing for an upcoming project soon.

“It’s difficult to push your fears at the back of your head and perform in front of the camera. Going out there requires one to be physically and mentally fit and that’s what I’m working on. It’s important that we deliver our films as soon as we can. Most shoots and releases that will happen this year are last year’s commitments,” he says.

The second wave of the pandemic came harshly on the economy with the grim situation taking a toll on one’s mental health. While many took the lockdown to their stride and learnt important life lessons from the adversity, Massey confesses that he doesn’t believing in “toxic positivity”.

He elaborates, “I would urge everyone to face, honour and acknowledge those days when they are feeling low rather than running away from the reality. I’m still exploring as to what this pandemic has taught me, but I hope I come out stronger. We all have been running a race and now, in hindsight, I see the things we were chasing aren’t integral for survival.”

A while back, the Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi actor took to social media to share helpline numbers to help and support children who have lost their parents due to Covid-19. Talking about how the issue has particularly affected him, he says, “Their futures have been snatched away from them. They need protection and we should provide them with whatever we can to the best of our capacities and help them get the future that they deserve. Let’s come forward and help these children,” he signs off.
