SMRITI, SCINDIA, SONOWAL IN KEY CABINET COMMITTEES AFTER RESHUFFLE
NEW DELHI: Days after the biggest reshuffle in the council of ministers since 2014 when Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister, the Union government reconstituted the powerful cabinet committees, bringing in Union ministers Smriti Irani, Bhupender Yadav and Sarbananda Sonowal as the new members of the Pm-led cabinet committee on political affairs.
Apart from Yadav, Sonowal and Irani , Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Giriraj Singh were was also included in the panel on political affairs will replace former ministers. They replace Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsh Vardhan, and late Ram Vilas Paswan in the panel that has a role in addressing Centre-state issues.
Union ministers Arjun Munda, Virendra Kumar, Kiren Rijiju and Anurag Thakur have been included in the rejigged Cabinet committee on parliamentary affairs with the mandate to draw the schedule of Parliament sessions.
Jyotiraditya Scindia, Narayan Rane, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, the three other newly inducted ministers, have been included in the committee that oversees investment and growth. The committee is tasked with identifying key projects required to be implemented on a time-bound basis. Janata Dal (United)’s RCP Singh is the only representative of the BJP allies to find a place in the eight committees. He has been named as a special invitee to the committee on skill development and employment.
Modi on July 8 inducted 36 new faces into the council and promoted seven junior ministers to independent or Cabinet roles.
