KRISHNA JANAMBHOOMI CASE HEARING DEFERRED TO JULY 23

-

AGRA: The case related to Sri Krishna Janambhoomi pending before the Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Mathura was adjourned on Monday after ‘No Work’ day was declared because of heavy rains in Mathura city.

The next date for hearing was fixed on July 23.

The petitioners, however, filed a photograph of idol Thakur Keshav Dev (Krishna) which they claim was the idol removed from Sri Krishna Janambhoomi and buried under stairs of mosque in Agra Fort after a ‘firman’ (order) issued by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, claimed the petitioner who also filed a copy of ‘firman’ in the Court. “We have obtained this photograph of idol Thakur Keshav Dev (Krishna) from Canadian channel ‘Bharat Marg’ dedicated to Hindu mythology. This was the idol which was removed from Sri Krishna Janambhoomi and buried under stairs of mosque in Agra Fort,” said Mahendra Pratap Singh, one of the petitioners and counsel in the case before Civil Judge (Senior Division) at Mathura.

In the earlier date, the petitioners had offered opposite parties representing Muslims one and a half times more land away from the Braj area and urged them to give up their claim on the land used to build the Eidgah adjacent the temple complex.

The petitioners in the case have claimed that Thakur Keshav Dev, Virajman Mandir Katra Keshavdev, is the owner of the 13.37-acre land. They alleged that Mughal emperor Aurangzeb had damaged the temple and while using building material, including stones from the temple, created a structure (popularly known as Eidgah) in place of the temple.

The case filed on behalf of deity Bhagwan Keshav Dev (Lord Krishna) seeks removal of the Shahi Eidgah (mosque), adjacent to the Shri Krishna temple complex in Mathura, and transfer of 13.37-acre land to the deity.
